This list of Word-Meaning have been prepared after going through all the previous year papers of  SSC and Bank exams. Make sure you memorize all these word-Meanings to score better in SSC Tier 1 & Tier 2 exam.

1. Admiration = a feeling of great respect and approval ( सराहना )
2. Ally = to join oneself with another in order to give support ( सहायक )
3. Apologetic = feeling or showing regret ( शर्मिंदा होना )
4. Assurance = a state of being sure or certain about something ( विशवास )
5. Averse = Strongly opposed ( प्रतिकूल )
6. Axiom = a rule or principle that many principle that many people accept as truth
7. Anecdotes = short narrative of interesting incidents ( किस्सा )
8. Arsonist = one who deliberately sets fire to a property ( वह व्यक्ति जो दुसरो की सम्प्पति में नुकसान पहुंचने के लिए आग लगाए )
9. Artful = Clever or Skillful in a bad way ( धूर्त , चालक )
10. Ascetic = A religious person with a strict way of life ( संन्यासी )
11. Assiduous = showing great care and compassion (मेहनती एवं ध्यान से काम करने वाला)
12. Abattoir = Slaughter House (कसाईखाना)
13. Abbot = The superior of a church (चर्च का मुख्य पादरी)

Error Spotting Practice Set 1: Briefly go through the instructions and try to solve it in a one go but if you get stuck take help from the Answers given below.

Answers with Explanations(In Hindi)
A1. (c) यहाँ more शब्द नहीं आएगा क्यूंकि "preferable" आलरेडी एक comparative शब्द है। 
A2. (c) than के बाद "that of" (= climate of ) होगा। 
A3. (a) यहाँ leader के स्थान पर leaders होना चाहिए। 
A4. (c) यहाँ jewelleries शब्द की जगह jewellery आएगा क्युकी यह एक uncountable noun है। 
A5. (c) यहाँ meetings के स्थान पर meeting आएगा। 
A6. (c) यहाँ "apply" (जो की एक plural noun है) की जगह applies(singular) आएगा। 
A7. (d) No Error
A8. (a) इस sentence में As they के बाद "climbed" आएगा क्युकी वाक्य past tense  में है। 
A9. (c) in के स्थान पर for आएगा। 
A10. (c)यहाँ are के स्थान पर is होगा क्युकी इस वाक्य का subject (the user ) singular है।

How Auxiliary Verbs are used in a Sentence? | SSC & Bank English

Rule 1: Modal Auxiliary verbs are not used as main verbs. They are only used as helping verbs.

E.g: I can lift this box.
          (Here, "Can" is Helping verb & "lift"is Main verbs)

        He should work hard.
        (Here, "Should"is Helping Verbs & "Work" is Main Verb.) 

Rule 2: Modal Auxiliary verbs are not used in V1, V2, V3, 'ing' or 's/es' form. Their form do not change with subject, person or number.

E.g: She can help you.
       (Here, "help" is V1)

Rule 3: 'Ought' and 'used' is always followed by infinitive 'to+V1'.

E.g: We ought to respect our parents.
       ("to respect" : to+V1)
     
       He used to come late.
        ("to come" : to+V1)
